Read stuff faster Q=Quit game. If you do not end your game with "Q" your driver will be dead the next time you boot! Your Driver Only one driver can be played at one time. The starting menu gives you 3 options. Pretty self explanatory there. Create a New Driver. Here is where you can start a totally new driver. First you must type in a name. Its max is 16 letters. Next you have to choose his abilities. You have 50 pts to divide between the three skills. The highest any of your skills can be is 99. Driving Skill. This helps you handle your car on the road and in the arena. The better the skill, the less likely you will lose control and crash. Marksmanship Skill. This helps you shoot accurately. The better the skill the more likely you will hit your foes, and you will do more damage. Mechanic Skill. This is used to salvage weapons and ammo from the cars you kill. Salvaged ammo can be used in your car. Salvaged weapons and parts can be sold at the salvage yard. This skill can only be increased by taking lessons at the garage, being successful in a salvage. You start out with $2000, and 3 health points. If your health goes to 0 you are dead. Prestige starts at 0. You are a nobody. Arena victories, successful courier runs, and certain other things can increase your prestige. Failed jobs, dishonesty, and certain other things can lower it. It never drops below 0. High prestige has many advantages, as you will learn. (Hint) The Towns Truck Stop: Every town has a truck stop. In it you can: 1) Catch a bus-$100. An easy way get to the next town. The garage will store the car you are driving. 4) Take car out of storage-$50. The garage will give you a list of your cars stored in the city; choose which one you want. This is invaluable when planning trips. 2) Courier tasks. You will be shown 3 missions. But you wont get every mission you ask for. The AADA agent on duty can turn you down if your prestige is too low, if the mission is thought to be too dangerous for your car, or if the payload is too large. You can only hold 3 payloads at one time. Gold Cross This is the hospital. Here you can order a clone. This is a copy of your driver. Store you memories. And get your health points back. 1) Create clone-$5000. Can only one clone at a time. If you get killed your clone will be activated where it was created. It owns everything you had before you died. Except for the car you were driving. 2) Update braintape-$3000. Must have a clone. When you update you store all your current skills. 3) Undergo treatment-$100/pt. If you have been injured in combat you can be healed. One week of treatment will cure one point of injury. Joe's Bar A seedy joint, not entirely safe. 1) Buy a drink-$5. You are more likely to pick up good rumors. But remember not to drink and drive! 2) Try to sell courier tasks. You can sell a payload for a fraction of what its worth. 3) Listen for rumors. If the bartender likes you he may tell you something. The FBI Ordinary citizens have no reason to visit the FBI. If you have any business there you will know who to ask for and what to say. Then it is destroyed. If you have 20 pts in the front of your car, it can take 20 hits before the weapons and interior are exposed. Weapons Machine gun. Most used gun. Flamethrower. Short range, very deadly with in range, leaves smoke screen, and cant be mounted in front. Rocket Launcher. Larger, heavier, cheaper, and more destructive than the MG. But it is also less accurate, and ammo costs more. Recoilless Rifle. Accurate as an MG but the punch of a rocket launcher. Anti-Tank Gun. Super heavy, and super destructive. Only mounts in the front or back. Its very effective and makes for quick kills. Laser. Light, compact, very destructive, and expensive. Drain Power plant but dont have to buy ammo. If power plant is gone, your laser will not work. Heavy Rocket. One shot weapon, cheep, best used at close range, can destroy with one shot but not always. Minedropper. The most offensive of the defensive weapons. A few well-placed mines can wipe out any player. If there were no MD there wouldnt be underbody armor. Mines can also destroy tires very quick. But they can do the same damage on you as on someone else. So be careful. They can only be placed on the back of your car. Spikedropper. Like the minedropper but does damage only to tires. Will not damage solid tires. Smokescreen. Totally defensive. Hides you from your foe, making an escape easier. Fire directed through a smokescreen is much less accurate. Paint Spray. Like a smokescreen but can coat a foe's windshield and drive and fire badly until he can clean it off with his wipers. Oil Jet. Lays a thin but slippery slick. Any vehicle entering the slick will be slowed and will probably lose control for a short time. Only mounted in back. Dont stop on one, you might not get out! Driving You control your car with the joystick and fire with the button. Here is what is shown when you are either on the road or in the arena. From top left there is your list of weapons on your car. The highlighted one is your active weapon. This is the only one you can fire. To change your active weapon hit the number of the weapon you wish to become your new active weapon. Next is the battery level. It goes down the more you run your car. If your power plant is damaged you will lose power. After that is the radar. It lets you know of any vehicles within several miles. If you have severe damage to your power plant it can go out. Next is the Speedometer and the Odometer. Self explanatory. The whole right side shows how many damage points you have left. From top down the damage is shown for: 1) Armor on the car 2) Tires 3) Power plant 4) You the driver Arena Combat The arena is the best place to get prestige, driving ability, marksmanship, and also money. There are four different kinds of arena battles. 1) Amateur Night. This is for the beginning autoduelists. There are amateur nights weekly. You must enter the arena on foot and have less than $5000 or a prestige lower than 6. The arena will provide you and your 5 opponents with a "Killer Kart." This is a lightly-armored subcompact with a single front mounted machine gun. If you win you get $1500. 2) Division 5,10,15,20. These are regularly scheduled AADA combats. A Division 5 event is open to cars with a value of up to $5000. Division 10 is $9600. And so on with the other divisions. You can enter a higher division duel if you want. The risk is much greater, but so is the prize money. 3) Unlimited Division. This is like the other divisions but there is no limit on cost of the vehicles. Expect vans, trucks, and bigger cars armed with lasers in this duel. 4) City Championships. Each arena holds one of these every 12 weeks. These duels are more dangerous than regular duels. There is no limit on the cost of vehicles that can enter. Jobs There are many ways to earn a living. There is road combat, arena combat, couriers, and vigilante. A courier takes payloads from an AADA office to another place in another town. This builds prestige and your bankroll. A late delivery can hurt your reputation and will pay less. A vigilante cleans up the roads of outlaws. The reward is experience and salvage from your kills. Outlaws Outlaws congregate in groups. If your radar shows several blips close together be careful. Packs can be deadly. Few roads are ever outlaw-free. Once a road has been cleared, new bandits will appear gradually. A well traveled road is usually fairly safe. It is believed that most outlaws in the Eastern sea-board report to a single leader, referred to by law enforcement agencies as "Mr. Big." Tracking down Mr. Big - if he exists - is a top priority of both the FBI and the AADA. (Hint..Hint) The main object I guess it to get this Mr. Big. But you will have a hard enough time staying alive. For those that like to cheat here is a way to get you enough money with out risking your neck. Make a backup of side 2. Boot up and create a driver. Then go build a car. Go to the garage and store the car. Put the back up disk in and remove the car from the garage. Put in the original side 2 and leave. Go to the salvage yard and sell the car. Go back to the garage. Put in the backup, remove the car. Put in the original side 2 and leave, sell the car and go back. Keep doing this until you have enough money to buy a good car. With the money you make you can also add weapons to the car so you will get a better price when you sell it. Drive offensively! NOTE: YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE A COPY OF A U.S. MAP, LIKE FROM A ALTAS SO YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE TOWNS ARE.
